The day started well. Woke early and headed off to explore Venice before the hordes of tourists descended. Strolled through the deserted alleyways on the look out for a cafe to eat coffee and croissant. Found a place near St Marks Square which was a cross between the Windsor Hotel and the local RSL in an Aussie country town.
Mahogany chairs and panelling mixed with no less than 5 TV's with a poor rendition of Madonna's Like a Prayer playing in the background.
We headed off for a tour of The Dodges Palace including a trip over
the notorious Bridge of Sighs to the. Prison area. Jessie and Freya horrified by the sight of a medieval chastity belt!
Then the bad thing happened. Just as we were about to hop on a water taxi for a tour of the Grand Canal, James appeared looking shell shocked. All our photos and movie of Assisi, Florence and Venice had disappeared from our camera and disk. We continued with the tour feeling deflated as our day in Assisi had been so wonderful.
If anyone has any thoughts about how this could have happened let us know.
Spent the afternoon wandering around enjoying being in Venice and taking lots of photos that were lost from the previous day. Frustrated by the lack of WI-FI and no hot water for our showers.
Here are some highlights from today.

Craptastic :-( that's just terrible. So hard to concentrate on having a good time when distracted by a Bad Thing.
ReplyDeleteNow i have an image of chastity belts in my head. Awkward.
We have posted some solutions to Catherine's Facebook - hope you have some success in recovering the photos. Sounds as though you are having an amazing time and loving the blog. The Murphys.
