Our secluded hideaway

We are staying in a slice of heaven called The Lot right next to the Dordogne River. Our gite (French for holiday house) is a stone cottage built in the 1700's. It comes with a heated pool, 2 black piglets, guinea fowl, chickens, a cranky rooster called Shane, a white cat and our two lovely English speaking hosts Andy and Kerrie. We are in seventh heaven. A walnut grove on our left, views of two castles in front, a wooded area with wild boar and a barn owl family in our roof. It doesn't get better than this. We even forgot to eat dinner last night. Instead we spent many hours drinking aperitifs with Andy and Kerrie discussing the French character, politics and their way of life. Life is VERY slow around here, food is very important, wine is exceedingly cheap but no one drinks to excess, and the French are very conservative beings. Here are some shots of our surroundings, especially for Ruth. You would love this place!
